TEL Roundup: Haala’s walk-off hit leads Stark by New Ulm on Wednesday in 12th inning

STARK — The Stark Longhorns got a walk-off single from Zach Haala on Wednesday night to take down the New Ulm Brewers 5-4 in 12 innings.

Haala finished 2 for 6 with the RBI, while Tim Seifert scored the winning run and went 2 for 3. Brandon Helget also went 2 for 5 with a pair of RBIs for the Longhorns (6-3), while Adam Sellner had a hit and two RBIs.

Jon Kopacek got the win for Stark in an inning of relief with a strikeout and one hit allowed.

Andrew Peters and Nick Fischer each were 3 for 6 for the Brewers (6-3). Fischer also had a home run for the Brewers, while JT Hoffmann added a homer also. Mitch Bockenstadt also added a pair of hits for New Ulm.

Peters took the loss in 1 1/3 innings of relief for New Ulm.

Sleepy Eye 13, Essig 9

SLEEPY EYE — The Sleepy Eye Indians topped the Essigs Bluejays in a high-scoring battle 13-9 on Wednesday night, led by Matt Mielke’s four-hit, four-RBI night.

Matt Mielke went 4 for 5 with a double, three runs scored and four RBIs to lead the Indians (4-3), while Joey Walter went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and Jake Mielke went 2 for 5 with a pair of RBIs. Also for the Indians, Austin Fischer went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, while Carter Brinkman had a hit, an RBI and scored a pair of runs.

Chad Armbruster took the win for Sleepy Eye in relief, pitching 1 2/3 innings and allowing five earned runs on four hits and two walks and adding a strikeout. Alan Woitas pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief.

For Essig (3-5), Kyle Krzmarzick was 2 for 5 with an RBI, while Kyle Helget had a hit and two RBIs and Hunter Sehr had a triple and an RBI. Sam Hansen took the loss on the mound, pitching two innings and allowing seven earned runs on eight hits and a pair of walks.
