HECTOR — No. 1 BOLD defeated New Ulm Cathedral 2-1 in eight innings in the Section 2A baseball playoffs on Thursday.

Aaron Portner took the loss for the Greyhounds. He went 7 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and three walks. He struck out four in the losing effort.

Portner also had a solo home run in the seventh inning. Cathedral plays Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Franklin Rogers Park.
