Amateur Roundup: Springfield defeats Courtland in TEL

COURTLAND — Springfield defeated Courtland 10-0 in Tomahawk East League amateur baseball action on Sunday.

Shawn Anderson earned the win for the Tigers. He went five innings and struck out eight. He allowed just two hits.

Keith Besemer took the loss for the Cubs. He allowed eight runs on 11 hits in five innings.

Offensively for Springfield, Branden Flock was 3 for 5 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Ryan Sturm was 3 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI and Carter Erickson was 2 for 5 with two RBIs and a run scored. Pat Moriarty was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI and Matt Vogel was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Hunter Johnson was 2 for 3 to lead Courtland.

Sleepy Eye 8, Gibbon 7

GIBBON — Sleepy Eye rallied from a 5-2 deficit to defeat the Gibbon Reds 8-7 in Tomahawk East League amateur baseball action on Sunday.

Austin Fischer pitched 5 2/3 innings to get the win. He allowed three runs on three hits and struck out five.

Nolan Huiras gave up three runs in two innings to take the loss. He allowed four hits and struck out two.

Joey Walter went 2 for 5 with four RBIs for Sleepy Eye and Alan Woitas was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Matt Mielke was 2 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored.

For Gibbon, Jon DeRock was 3 for 6 with an RBI and a run scored and Justin Schwecke was 3 for 6 with three RBIs. Cody Nachreiner was 2 for 5 with a run scored.
