Springfield falls to consolation bracket after 9-4 loss on?Friday

PELICAN RAPIDS – Springfield Post 257 had a tough time with Stephen/Argyle on Friday morning in Game 1 of the Division II State Legion Baseball Tournament at Pelican Rapids.

After a 9-4 loss on Friday, Post 257 dropped to the consolation bracket, where they will take on New London/Spicer at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Should Springfield win at 9 a.m., they will move on in the consolation bracket to play a 2 p.m. game that afternoon.

New London/Spicer suffered a 4-3 loss to LaCrescent on Friday, despite scoring two late runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Springfield’s Henry Scheitel had a solid morning at the plate on Friday, going 3 for 4, but he also picked up the loss on the mound after four innings of work.

Mitchell Leonard went 2 for 4 for Springfield, while Mitchell Buerkle went 1 for 4 with a pair of RBIs.
