SLEEPY EYE — The Sleepy Eye Legion offense was on fire Tuesday night in American Legion baseball action against Fairbault

Sleepy Eye beat Faribault 10-5 with some solid offense and defense. Carter Brinkman went 2 for 4, including a triple in the first inning and a single in the sixth inning. He finished with three RBIs.

Zach Haala and John Luu Mathiowetz went 2 for 3 with Mathiowetz adding an RBI.

Faribault was not going down with out a fight though, getting back five runs in the third and fourth inning with Zach Vantomne hitting a double with an RBI.

However, Sleepy Eye pitcher Kyle Domeier shut the Faribault bats down and he was aided by his defense.

Domeier allowed just four hits and three walks in six innings pitched. Dallas Bauer came in to relieve Domeier and right away got three outs, including a strikeout and two fly outs.

“We cleaned it up on defense,” Sleepy Eye coach John Mielke stated, “Kyle Domeier gave us a good start. Throws a lot of strikes and changes speeds really well. Dallas Bauer had a super relief outing came out to do exactly what we wanted him to do. Set down the first three guys he faced.”

Sleepy Eye hosts St. Peter at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
