Brewers get creamed 14-1 in non-league game

NEW ULM — St. Peter scored nine runs in the first inning and then added five more in the fourth as it cruised by the New Ulm Brewers 14-1 in seven innings in a non-league game Wednesday night at Johnson Park.

Jeff Wenner got the win for the Saints. He went five innings and allowed one run on four hits.

Dylan Klein took the loss for the Brewers. He went 3 1/3 innings and was charged with all 14 runs. He gave up 12 hits.

Ty Kaus led St. Peter with four hits with Shawn Rochrkaisse, Ryan Kapsner and Jemie Munsterman each adding three hits.

Rochrkaisse and Munsterman each drove in three runs.

Zach More and Wade French each had two hits for the Brewers.

St. Peter made short work of the game when it sent 13 batters to the plate in the first inning and scored nine runs.

Two walks, singles from Rochrkaisse and Kapsner and a Munsterman double made 4-0 before the first out was recorded.

Two-out base hits from Jeff Menke, Jordan Willmes and Steve Nessler and an outfield error made it 9-0.

New Ulm struck for its only the game in the bottom of the inning on a French double and a Landon Rewitzer single.

The Saints pushed five runs across in the fourth when Kapsner and Munsterman singled. Billy Hanson walked and Alex Hahn singled. Menke followed with a two-run double with Kaus singling in Menke for a 14-1 lead.
