Nicollet – Madelia defeated Nicollet 46-20 on Friday night in a South District West 9-man football game.

The Blackhawks scored first on a 45-yard by Jordan Osborne off a pitch from Matt Baumgartner. Osborne ran for the 2-point PAT.

Osborne scored again on a two-yard run. The PAT failed for a 14-0 Madelia lead.

Elijah Northquest’s two-yard pitch to Josh Chadderdon put Nicollet on the scoreboard at 9:37 of the second period making it 14-6 Madelia at halftime.

Baumgartner hit Angel Zamora with a 75-yard touchdown strike in the third quarter. Osborne ran for the 2-point conversion for a 22-6 lead.

Less than two minutes later, Northquest threw a 19-yard TD pass Ean Thomsen to cut Madelia’s lead to 22-14.

Baumgartner scored on a 2-yard run and he ran for the 2-point conversion.

Northquest scored on 10-yard quarterback keeper and he threw a pass to for Nicollet’s final points of the night.

The Blackhawks scored twice, including a 2-yard run by Osborne to ice the game.

Madelia had 421 total yards of offense; 285 yards rushing and 136 yards passing. Nicollet had 297 yards.

Baumgartner was 9-of-14 for 109 yards, 25 carries for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Osborne had 15 carries for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Zomora had seven receptions for 112 yards and one touchdown. and 11 carries for 104 yards with one touchdown.

Logan Anderson and Jarly Goodoy each had one interception for Madelia.

Madelia will host Fulda on Friday and Nicollet will travel to Truman to face Granada-Huntley-East Chain on Friday.
