More Taxation?

To the editor: Governor, what is your problem? Minnesota has $17.5 billion in surplus money which you want to spend in ridiculous ways to deplete this amount, then you plan to raise taxes? Give Minnesotans a break, please, from all this needless spending when inflation is rampant still to truly “TAX” everyone daily to constantly pay more for the basics much less anything else. Minnesota and the U.S. needs to install only one tax across the board, the consumption tax, wiping out all other taxes, thus everyone, rich or poor, would pay at the counter for any and all goods ...

National Day of Prayer

To the editor: Jesus prayed, so we should too! The National Day of Prayer is Thursday, May 4. In 1952 President Harry Truman signed a joint resolution of Congress establishing an annual national day of prayer. In 1988 President Ronald Regan and Congress amended the law to designate the first Thursday of every May to be an annual observance. On May 4th, Christians will gather across the United States to pray for their country. “Pray fervently in righteousness and avail much” from James 5:16, is this year’s theme and directs prayer in seven specific areas: Family, Church, ...

People Not Guns

To the editor: A fellow killed his younger brother. He killed him with a rock. A boy killed his nation’s enemy. He killed him with a rock. One death was good, but the other not. Yet no one blamed the rock. A family while hunting killed a deer. They killed it with a gun. A crazy person killed a student. He killed her with a gun. One death was good, but the other not. No one should blame the gun. People are to blame for the killing. They are responsible. Society and teachers must hold People responsible. Parents show your children how to act And be ...

Thank you, Rep. Torkelson

To the editor: I read Rep. Paul Torkelson’s letter to the editor in The Journal back on April 6. In the letter, Paul commented on Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s recent visit to Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Torkelson states that Sen. Klobuchar said she wants to do something to help the nursing homes in our state. Torkelson thanked Sen.Klobuchar for that, and I thank her also. Recently, on Minnesota news networks I heard that four of the Democrats’ main goals are: 1. more abortion rights; 2. giving felons voting rights; 3. giving drivers licenses to undocumented people, and 4. ...

What’s wrong with America?

To the editor: What on earth is wrong with America? As any God fearing, Bible believing and realistic person can see and will tell you, America is in terrible shape. America is spiritually, morally, mentally, physically and financially in terrible shape. All throughout America, we are seeing more and more social unrest, mass shootings, division, moral decadence, corruption, confusion, hatred and sin. How did America get into such terrible shape as it is now? The main reason that America is in such terrible shape is because all of the “christian” churches, and church-going ...
