What’s in a name?

To the editor: The right’s propaganda machine has been indoctrinating its supporters with its buzz-words and acronyms to set those people’s teeth on edge whenever they hear them. I recently saw a post stating that the right purposely references its perceived grievances with acronyms such as DEI. I guess it helps its followers to focus their sites on a target. (They probably couldn’t tell you what it stands for.) To the editor: Insurance ads are ridiculous and obnoxious and all carriers advertise on every cable channel day and night which has to cost a lot of money. Why spend a fortune doing this? Is it for a tax write-off? All these companies turn around and raise all insurance premiums greatly again and why? The average person is struggling to survive with all the high costs of living re everything and now another blow from “rich” insurance companies? Believe your eyes and ears

To the editor: R.E. Wehrwein’s Feb 7 letter raises the question of what sources are reliable regarding Jan. 6. We all saw the same event unfold in real time on every network and cable news source, and we should believe what our eyes told us. We heard what law enforcement officers and Democrats and Republicans who were there told us that day and in the following days. To the editor: We are writing to express our outrage that our son’s Veteran-owned small business has been destroyed overnight. After dedicating his career in engineering to water and infrastructure projects, the new administration’s halt on USAID funding has stopped his work and stiffed him of past invoices. This is against U.S. law and has been devastating to him and our family. USAID programs help us maintain influence and relationships throughout the world that we need. To the editor: I was among the group of six constituents visiting Representative Brad Finstad’s office described in Thursdays article. I wish to add some background. On President Trump’s first day back in office, he created the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) by Executive Order. To the editor: I always thought one of America’s greatest strengths was the diversity of her people. All were welcome. All were given the chance to better their lives. It truly made us great.
