To the editor: I taught English for 43 years. I don’t like all poetry, but I love some poems. “The Hangman” by Maurice Ogden is one. To the editor: It’s too bad that our justice system couldn’t mete out judgments and punishments for our current president, the convicted felon, as swiftly as he’s tried to fast-track deportations and imprisonment for innocent U.S. citizens. Feds overstepping in education curriculum

To the editor: Our federal government is overstepping…it should have no control over curriculum in higher education, or K-12 public school curriculum. I have four children and served 12 years on a K-12 school board.  There have been complaints about curriculum recently, ie ‘sexual’ content concerning gender identity. This can be an uncomfortable subject for people. However, it is an undeniable part of today’s society. For children to navigate well in today’s world, they need to have basic information about their world and society. Today is not the world of 25-50 years ...

To the editor: On Jan. 20, President Trump took the Oath of Office: a promise to faithfully execute the duties of the presidency and preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. To the editor: Apparently Democratic voters are not in favor of President Trump’s policies regarding our illegal immigrants and our governments management and bureaucracy. There’s no need for division on these topics. Let’s just back up a few years and see how some of our former favorite Presidents framed their opinions on these important issues.
