The guns have come out
To the editor:
When Kristy Noem stepped off the airplane and gave her speech at the Minneapolis airport yesterday, she did not offer condolences or comfort regarding the fact that a person had just died. Instead, she initiated a scathing attack on the victim, portraying her as some kind of evil monster while at the same time giving a gushing account over how wonderful the ice agent was who had killed her.
Something is very, very wrong with this modern bromance between the Republican Party and the Christian church for allowing this type of behavior to continue while praising it at the same time. It’s as if some modern people have lost their ability to discern the difference between good and evil or know right from wrong.
When given the news of this event, our president, Donald Trump also went on a rampage against the woman, blaming her while idolizing the ice agent before he knew any of the facts as to what had happened.
My fear now is that the guns have come out, that the ice agents have now redefined the nature of our conflict. History teaches us that when one side resorts to violence, the other side will respond in the same manner. It’s just inevitable.
With federal authorities, refusing to even let the local authorities investigate this incident we have entered into a new dimension of insanity in the conflict between local and national government. I personally don’t see anything good coming out of this, but we’ll just have to sit back and watch what happens because it appears that nobody has the wisdom or authority to solve problems like this anymore.
