Hospitality industry still in need

To the editor:

The important local hospitality industry continues to be affected by COVID-19 and the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce is reaching out to Minnesota lawmakers to ensure they continue to fund the critical needs of our community.

Local business leaders continue to be affected by the pandemic and are in need of support. Congress has awarded some funds that have helped. The Small Business Administration was instructed to fund certain demographics during the recent release of the Restaurant Revitalization Fund and that made an immense difference, however, a large segment of the hospitality industry is still pending funding review. The New Ulm Chamber of Commerce urges Minnesota Representatives and Senators to make the correct decision by funding the RRF in full. Business owners continue to experience inflated product costs, labor shortages, and decreased foot traffic.

By funding the RRF fully and continue helping businesses with the greatest need it will save viable businesses and pave the way for new entrepreneurs. Please help restaurants impacted by contacting your federal Congressperson.
