Israeli-Palestinian problem is complex
To the editor:
The history of Palestine and the ongoing Palestinian Israeli conflict is not well known to most of us separated by distance from the Middle East.
Rashid Khalid’s book “The Hundred Years War on Palestine” takes us through his family’s experience of three generations of people active in Palestinian affairs and the role Great Britain had from 1920 to the early 1950’s.
Noura Erakat’s book “Justice for Some” discusses how the law and lawwork has been used by all parties to shape the current situation in Israel and the occupied territories of Palestine.
David Shulman has written several books on the Israeli peace movement’s attempt to protect Palestinians and their crops, orchards, and olive groves from destruction and poisoning of their wells from Israeli settlers in the occupied territory of the South Hebron Hills.
A black and white portrayal of a long, complex situation will not result in a just and fair resolution that all parties require.
