Don’t let snow stop you from Baggin’in the Street
The Baggin’ in the Street bean bag tournament is returning to downtown New Ulm this Saturday. Dozens of teams will compete in an outdoor tournament to be the best at baggin.’ The tournament officially begins at 10 a.m. with registration starting at 8:45 a.m. The event is a fun way to get people outside during the winter. Once again, it is likely the tournament will be held during a snow storm. The forecast for Saturday is predicting snow. It’s now clear how much snow, but it should make the bean bag tournament even more interesting.
Congratulations to Area wrestlers
New Ulm Area (NUA) completed its best season in program history, finishing as state runners up, their highest finish ever, as well as winning 26 duals, the most ever for the program. NUA continues to excel at the state individual wrestling tournament. On Thursday, wrestlers Elijah Rieser, Alex Portner and Ellie Dake each won their first match to advance to the next round. Friday morning, Rieser won his quarter-final match to advance to the semifinals. How ever the rest of the tournament goes, The Journal is proud of their success. It is exciting to see this many area athletes do so well.
Plenty of progress in terms of business
The Journal’s annual Progress sections, which highlight changes and updates in local businesses, was inserted in today’s edition of the paper. This year’s Progress sections included 22 local stories related to area business development. Every year The Journal is able to find dozens of stories on how businesses are adapting and growing in the community. Most years the paper actually finds more Progress stories than can actually fit in the Progress section. This is a testament to the community’s economic viability.
