Government ineptitude

It probably is a good thing bureaucrats like those at the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration were not in charge of arming the United States for World War II.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941, the United States became the “arsenal of democracy,” producing tens of thousands of planes, tanks, ships, etc. Less than four years later, the war was won.

The DEA cannot get even one airplane into service in that amount of time.

A special DEA aircraft purchased seven years ago was to have been used in Afghanistan. That will not happen because of the U.S. pullout from that country. The plane will go elsewhere.

Accordingn to a USA Today report, “Seven years after the aircraft was purchased to support the so-called Global Discovery Program, it now rests on jacks in a Delaware hangar and ‘has never flown in Afghanistan,” Justice’s inspector general concluded …in a 59-page report.”

It was supposed to have been modified by December 2012 – but will not be ready until June. It will cost $86 million, four times the estimated price.

It is simply another incredible example of the federal government ineptitude at the expense of the taxpayer.
