Springfield resident Austin Ewing received a hero’s parade through Springfield Sunday after winning four gold medals at the Special Olympics in Orlando last week. Ewing returned to his hometown riding in the Springfield Fire Engine with a police escort.

Welcome home signs were placed off Highway 14 outside of Springfield to welcome the return of hometown hero Austin Ewing, who won four gold medals during the Orlando Special Olympics competition.

Karin Barka received the privilege of pushing “Princess Emily” through part of Zoo Man’s Nightmare Underground exhibit. “Princess Emily” is a mascot for the horror themed attraction and Barka jumped at the honor of driving through the exhibits.
