She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Steve Betz, Dale Betz; and infant twin siblings, Virginia and Robert.

Betty Ann Betz was born July 4, 1950, in Primghar, Iowa, to Bob and Velma (Aldred) Betz. Betty graduated from Fulda High School in 1968 and furthered her education at Votech in Canby. On June 27, 1969, Betty was united in marriage to Ralph Waltz in Canby. Their union was blessed with four children. In addition to being a wife and mother, Betty worked at 3M and various other jobs in her earlier years, and then ran her own daycare for over 40 years. Outside of work, Betty kept busy by reading, watching musicals, going antiquing, bird watching, going to church at Cathedral, and traveling. Many cherished memories were made traveling with Bev and Denny Johnson, and spending time with all her daycare kids and her grandchildren that also got to come to her daycare. She especially enjoyed family gatherings, Christmas most of all. Every year Betty made the Christmas magic come alive with decorations, food, and, most of all, her presents. From wrapping $5 bills in candy bars and resealing them to other convoluted scavenger hunts, no Christmas was the same and every year somehow managed to top the rest. Above all else, Betty’s family and faith was cherished most of all.

Betty was a very positive and healthy person through life. Despite having a stroke many years ago, she took that as an initiative to live life more fully. When her cancer diagnosis came in 2023, Betty fought everyday to continue to live life on her terms with grace and happiness.

Although she is no longer with us, Betty’s love and memories will continue to live on in all who knew her. Blessed be her memory.
