Robert “Rob” Leon Moldan was born July 14, 1972, at the Loretto Hospital in New Ulm, Minnesota to Joseph and Joan “Dodie” (Depuydt) Moldan. He was the youngest of eight children and grew up on the family farm in rural Searles. While living on the farm, Rob helped take care of the animals, walked beans, baled hay, and helped with any and all work that needed to be done on the farm. Besides his work on the farm, Rob also played baseball, and softball, and enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling with his brothers and friends. He was a 1990 graduate from the Cathedral High School in New Ulm. After graduation, Rob continued to work on the farm doing chores and field work. Oliver tractors always held a special place in his heart. Rob was united in marriage to Cindy Paulson on August 3, 2002, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. This union blessed the couple with their son, Joseph, and their daughter Aubrey. Besides his work as a farmer, over the years Rob worked at Kraft Foods in New Ulm, River Region Coop in Essig, G&S in Courtland, and Carroll Construction Supply in New Ulm. As a social man, Rob always enjoyed visiting with people, sharing funny stories to brighten others day, and to relax, he enjoyed working on machinery. He loved following all of his children’s life events, from Aubrey’s softball games, to Joseph’s robotics competitions, he was always there when he could be. While Rob had a somewhat stubborn side, he was always there for others when they needed him. Although Rob was taken from this earth too soon, countless memories of the good times shared, and memories made will forever stay in the hearts and minds of all who knew him best. Blessed be those memories.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John the Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, NUACS, or the donor’s choice.
