Curtis “Curt” Anthony Windschitl

Curtis “Curt” Anthony Windschitl, 83, of New Ulm passed away following heart surgery at Abbott Hospital in Minneapolis on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

A funeral service will be at 11am on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH chapel with Father Jerry Meidl officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH chapel and will continue from 10-11am on Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

Curtis was born February 25, 1941 to Anton & Francis Windschitl in New Ulm. He attended Cathedral High School (Class of 1959) and Mankato State University. His career included owning and operating Curt’s Standard Amoco Station, followed by 30 years at 3M. He was proud to have served in the NU National Guard where he earned the Outstanding Soldier of The Year – Military Service Award.

Curt took pride by serving his community for 20 years, volunteering for the NU Fire Department and served as Assistant Fire Chief. After retirement, he enjoyed golf, delivering Meals on Wheels, volunteering with the Salvation Army & card playing with his fellow Firefighter retirees.

Curtis and his wife Joanne had 3 children: Keith (Lisa Stoll), Kim Maxwell (Husband Jeff Warfel) & Kraig. Grandchildren: Julia Maxwell & Jocelyn Maxwell. Curt was the youngest of 10 children (4 sets of twins). Marie (Landsteiner), Arnold & Ray, Lyle & Lois (Tuzinski), Alvin & Alice (Stueber), Jean (Dummer) & Joan (Krzmarzick).
