Thomas Postel

Thomas Postel, age 78, of New Ulm, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Pastor Kathleen Ulland-Klinkner will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery in New Ulm where the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard will provide full military honors.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Postel of New Ulm; daughter, Michelle (Brian) Cooper of Grantsburg, Wisconsin; son, Christopher Postel of Minneapolis; stepsons, Richard (Linda) Wengert of Amboy and Chad (Lori) Wengert of New Ulm; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Geraldine (Lyle) Isackson and Mary Jane (Melvin) Gulden; brother, Richard (Holly) Postel; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Thomas Henry Postel was born Nov. 25, 1943 to John and Coletta (Diepolder) Postel in New Ulm. He graduated from Holy Trinity High School in New Ulm and enlisted in the United States Army. Tom served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1969. After his service, Tom began a 37-year-long career at Kraft Foods in New Ulm. On Sept. 14, 1979, Tom was united in marriage to Linda Postel at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and the couple resided in New Ulm. In his free time, Tom enjoyed spending time at Johnson Park, volunteering in the community and at church, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the VFW, DAV, American Legion and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Tom will be dearly missed by those that knew him. Blessed be his memory.
