Louise (Aaby) Wilner

Louise (Aaby) Wilner, age 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at her home in Stacy, Minnesota, and surrounded by family and friends.

Louise is survived by her five children, Kevin (Stacey) of Maryville, Tennessee, Kristen Van Someren (Jim) of Loretto, Minnesota, Eric (Vicki) of Le Sueur, Minnesota, David (Kris) of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and Nathan (Linda) of Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Luda, Lily, Tess, Mac, Kelsie, Kayleigh, Kami, and Emily; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Richard Wilner.

Louise was born April 30, 1934, to Elbert and Opal Aaby in Rochester. She graduated from Kenyon High School and attended the University of Minnesota, earning her degree in home economics. Louise was united in marriage to Richard Wilner in 1957. The couple originally lived on the family farm near Cosmos, Minnesota, then moved to Madison, Minnesota, before settling in New Ulm. Upon retirement, the couple moved near Spooner, Wisconsin, to live on the lake and later moved to Stacy, continuing their love of the country on five acres. In her early years, Louise taught home economics in both Redwood Falls and Hutchinson. While in New Ulm, she worked at both New Ulm Furniture and as an aide at St. Mary’s School, although her most rewarding job was as a mother. In her later years, she enjoyed volunteering at Family Pathways and Fairview Hospital in Wyoming, Minnesota. Throughout her life, Louise was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm and St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stacy. Louise loved everything outdoors and having to do with nature. Whether gardening, repairing things, planting pine trees, or chasing the wild turkeys away, she lived life to its fullest. Above all else, she most loved being with family.

The family will schedule a celebration of life at a later date.
