Dennis “Mandy” Manderfeld, age 93, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Prairie Senior Cottages in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm, where the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard will provide full military honors.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Dennis is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Richard) VanVoorhis of LaPorte, Indiana, Marie (s/o Tom Wheeler) Mielke of New Ulm; his sons, Jeffrey (s/o Karen Savoy) Manderfeld of New Ulm, Ronald (Kris) Manderfeld of New Ulm; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Manderfeld; his parents, Edward and Barbara Manderfeld; daughter, Nancy Gulden; sisters, Lora Seidl and Gladys Holm; and his brother, Linus Manderfeld.
Dennis Edward Manderfeld was born March 25,1929, to Edward and Barbara (Girg) Manderfeld in New Ulm. He attended Holy Trinity Catholic Schools in New Ulm and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1946. After serving his country until 1949, he began working at various jobs. Dennis worked as a taxi cab driver, car salesman, float builder, and gas station attendant. He was united in marriage to Arlene Berger on Oct. 2, 1954, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. In addition to getting married, Dennis began working at the New Ulm Street Department in 1954, where he retired in 1984. He also owned and operated Manderfeld Sod Co. in the 1960s, as well as working as a Mason Shoe dealer for 15 years and worked many other odd jobs. Outside of work, Dennis kept busy by starting the first trained umpire organization in the New Ulm Area, serving as an auxiliary policeman for many years, and being the honorary mayor of The Wallchei. He especially enjoyed spending time with all of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchild, and all his extended family and friends. Dennis will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Allina Hospice, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, or the donor’s choice.
