Gary L. Squier

NEW ULM — Gary L. Squier, age 84 of New Ulm passed away Monday, July 26, 2021 at his home in New Ulm.

Memorial service will be 1:00 pm Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Courtland with Pastor Wayne Bernau officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 – 1:00 at the Church on Saturday.

Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is assisting the family with arrangements.

Gary is survived by his wife, LaVonne; daughters, Char Sellner (John Retzlaff), Carla (Kurt) Karstens, Amy (Ryan) Tanley; son, Randy (Kathy) Squier; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandy Schulte, Phyllis Brundell and his brother, Duane Squier.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Debi Neidecker and Vicky Squier and 11 siblings.

Gary Lee Squier was born October 12, 1936 in Floyd County Iowa to George and Opal (Tibbits) Squier. Gary was united in marriage to LaVonne Svoboda on February 18, 1961 in Glencoe, MN. Gary worked as a boiler operator for over 30 years and retired from Heartland Corn Products in Winthrop.

Gary was a special guy, so very kind and selfless. He loved making people smile and laugh, and always had a funny story or joke to tell. He enjoyed wood working and especially making Gary’s Gadgets which he handed out to many whether he knew them or not. He will be missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
