Gary “Hound” Bassett
Gary “Hound” Bassett, age 66, of New Ulm passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
A memorial visitation will be held from 11-12 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2021 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home — NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.

Gary is survived by his sisters, Roxanne (Gary) Zimanski of Courtland, Cindy (Randy) Rosenau of New Ulm; brother, Kevin (Joy) Bassett of New Ulm; nieces, Amanda (John Schindler) Rosenau, Stephanie (Brian) Peterson, Sarah (Clayton) Strobel; Nephews, Jeremy (Kari) Bassett, Travis Rosenau, David Zimanski; closest cousin, Jim Rewitzer; wonderful friend, Jeff Gulden and many extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, James Jeffrey Bassett; and faithful dog, Gracie.
Gary Jerome Bassett was born July 23, 1954 to Kenneth and Lois “Dolly” (Rewitzer) Bassett in New Ulm. He graduated from Cathedral High School in New Ulm and began working. Gary worked at Kraft, Culligan, and then as a self-employed painter. He loved playing darts and cards, going golfing and fishing, and was an avid Vikings, Twins, and Wild Fan. Gary was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Aid. He will be dearly missed by those that knew him.
