NEW ULM — Lyle Roger Stolze, age 91 of New Ulm died peacefully on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the Living Meadows at Luther in Madelia.

Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Pastor Timothy Smith will officiate the service, and burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

The Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes of New Ulm are assisting the family with arrangements at this time.

Lyle is survived by his step-son, Robert (Carol) Heppner of Primghar, Iowa; his 4 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Myrtle; his step-daughter and her husband, Betty and Bob Brobst; granddaughter, Judy Thompson; sister, Janet Elvin; and brothers, Raymond and Percy Stolze.

Lyle Roger Stolze was born March 15, 1930, in South Branch Township-Watonwan County, Minnesota to Edward and Minnie (Dannoff) Stolze. Lyle attended St. James high school, followed by two years of vocational schooling where he attained a degree in tool and die making. On December 24, 1951, Lyle was united in marriage to Myrtle Lorenz Heppner at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in St. James, Minnesota. Lyle spent two years in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Germany and France. After receiving an honorable discharge, he and Myrtle made their home in St. James where he worked as a tool and die maker at Scherr Tumico for 17 years. They later moved in New Ulm where Lyle worked for the 3M company for 24 years until his retirement. He and Myrtle enjoyed spending time at their lake home in Osakis, Minnesota for many years. Lyle was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family and friends. After his wife, Myrtle passed away on February 23, 2011, he enjoyed going to the bakery for breakfast with his friends, and socializing over dinner at the Senior Center with the guys. He was a dedicated member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Countless memories will forever stay in the hearts of all who knew and love him. Blessed be his memory.
