Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Courtland. Pastor Wayne Bernau will officiate. Burial will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Courtland.

Byron is survived by his wife, Deb Schmidt; daughter, Jenna L. (James) Silva; son, Jared B. Schmidt; grandchildren, Kayley, Kelsy, Ava and Maddie; sister, Carolyn Woller; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded by his parents; sister-in-law, Kathy; brother-in-law, Albert; and nephew, Kevin.

Byron W. Schmidt was born AAug. 28, 1954 to Wesley and Wilhelmine (Kratzke) Schmidt in New Ulm. He graduated high school and made a career pouring and working with concrete. On September 27, 1975, Byron was united in marriage to Debra Wills in Courtland. Their union was blessed with two children. When Byron was not working or raising his children, he enjoyed going hunting and fishing. He especially loved spending time with his grandkids. Byron will be dearly missed by those that knew him. Blessed be his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
