Melvin Kamm

SEARLES — Mellie would like to let you know that his work here has been completed. He received a call, a sort of an offer you cannot refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be riding horses, playing sheephead, camping, fishing, socializing, and dancing to his heart’s content. Music, laughter, and everlasting love are guaranteed. He died peacefully at his home while being held in the arms of his loving wife & children where he left detailed instructions for them to celebrate his mission here, which has now been completed. Low adherence to this instruction will not be tolerated.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles. Father Cornelius Ezeilouku will celebrate the Mass, and burial will follow in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9-10:30 am on Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-South Chapel in New Ulm.

The service will be live-streamed through the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home’s Facebook page starting at 11 am on Saturday.

Social distancing guidelines must be practiced at all times, and all guests in attendance at the visitation and funeral will be required to wear a mask.

Melvin was born September 14, 1937 to George and Mary (Zeug) Kamm. He grew up on a farm south of Searles where he farmed the land with his father along with tending to the livestock. His passion was horses which he raised & showed at local rodeos which earned him too many medals & ribbons to count.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Stoll on November 12, 1960. They celebrated 60 years of marriage on November 12, 2020. They were blessed with 6 children that they took on many trips that consisted of camping and fishing all over the state. The family just recently was lucky enough to all go to Las Vegas to spend time together and make memories to last a lifetime.

After his retirement from Kraft him & Shirley spent their summers at Your Haven Resort which also turned into a getaway for his children & grandchildren. Countless cherished memories will forever stay in the hearts of those who were blessed to have him in their lives. Blessed be those memories.
