Melvin Walter Wendt

FAIRFAX — Melvin Walter Wendt, age 93 of Fairfax passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020 at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Due to current social constraints, a private graveside service will be held at the Emanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Wellington Township with Pastor Scott Muske officiating.

Melvin was born on October 6, 1926 to Emil and Ella (Bleick) Wendt. He was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church by Pastor Fritz. He spent his life on the farm. Melvin was in the Navy from September 1951 to September 1955 where he served on the USS Achernar in Korea. Melvin spent the last years at assisted living in Fairfax.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilton (1997) and Harvey (2007) Wendt; sister, Lily Linsmeier (2010); nephew, Maynard Linsmeier (1977); sisters-in-law, Joan Wendt (1974) and Delma Wendt (1991).

He is survived by nieces, Marilyn Benjamin, of Hutchinson, Doris Hanson, of Mankato, Diane Seppanen, of Proctor; nephews, Donald Linsmeier, of Fairfax, David Wendt, of Coleman, WI., Daryl Wendt, of Gibbon, Steve Wichmann, of Michigan, Bruce Wichmann, of Mississippi and his special friend, Myra Bushard, of Fairfax and her family.

Minnesota Valley Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
