Alice A. Rewitzer

NEW ULM — Alice A. Rewitzer, age 93 of New Ulm passed away Monday, March 30, 2020 at the Oak Hills Living Center.

Due to current social constraints, there will not be a public visitation or service. A private family funeral service will be held at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Alice is survived by her daughters, Jean (Wayne) Juhulen of Minneapolis, Barbara Bastian and Sheila Rewitzer of New Ulm, Rosalyn Johnson, Alice “Tiny” Rewitzer; son, Edward (Rhonda) Rewitzer of Faribault; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Edward (Sandy) Manderfeld Jr. of Lead, South Dakota and many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Rewitzer Sr.; son, Walter Rewitzer Jr; daughter, Linda Mack; sisters, Betty Thompson, Madeline Rewitzer; son-in-law, Joe Johnson and great-grandchild, Chelsey Mack.

Alice Ann Rewitzer was born July 2, 1926 in New Ulm to Edward and Elsie (Sperl) Manderfeld. She attended country school in Brown County. She was united in marriage to Walter Rewitzer in New Ulm April 21, 1945 where they made their home and raised six daughters and two sons. Over the years Alice had several cleaning jobs which she enjoyed doing. After retiring she enjoyed caring for her many plants and flowers she had in the yard that were her pride and joy. Her dog Nikki was always by her side. Shaking dice, playing spades and rummy were among the games she enjoyed. Alice enjoyed the occasional trip to Jackpot, embroidering and listening to old time music especially when her grandson and great-grandson Chad and Cameron Mack played their concertinas.

She was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
