Lloyd Dwayne Julien

Lloyd Dwayne Julien, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on October 14, 2019.

Dwayne was born February 3, 1934, in Balaton, MN to Elmer and Julia Julien. He grew up on his family farm and attended Balaton High School. He joined the United States Air Force in 1955 and served as a Military Police Officer until 1958, when he was honorably discharged.  After leaving the military, he attended college at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. He took a job in sales at General Trading before working for 3M as a Quality Control Inspector for 25 years. While working for 3M and long after his retirement, he operated his own business, Julien’s Vinyl Repair Service.

Dwayne married Ann Marie Heggerston on February 14, 1960 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Walnut Grove, MN. They were happily married for what would be 60 years in February. They lived in the Twin Cities, before moving to New Ulm, MN where they raised their two daughters, Kris and Kari.  Throughout his life he served as an Auxiliary Police Officer and was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where he served as a deacon, usher, and a member of the choir. Dwayne enjoyed traveling, gardening, collecting cars, and working on projects for family and the community. He loved the simple things in life, but most of all he treasured time with his family and friends.

Dwayne is preceded in death by his daughter, Kristine; his parents, Elmer and Julia; and sister, Eunice.

Dwayne lives on in the hearts of his loving wife, Ann; daughter Kari (Mark); grandchildren Erin (Drew), Jenna, Tim (Beth), Caitlin, Connor, Megan, Courtney (Joseph), and Colin; great-grandchildren Logan, Madison, Charles, Daxton, and Emery. Brothers Roger (Mary), Glen (Sharon), many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1400 South State Street, New Ulm, MN. Celebration of Life service will be Monday, October 21, 2019 at 10 a.m. with a visitation one hour before at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Inurnment with military honors will immediately follow the service at New Ulm City Cemetery. Lunch to follow at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
