Ione is survived by her daughter, Roxana (Bruce) Aird of Lake Forest, California; her son, Kent (Terese) Peterson of Hanska; grandchildren, Amanda Aird of Houston, Texas, Gregory (Jenna) Aird of Portland, Oregon, Jacob Peterson of Hanska; and her sister-in-law, Rosie Macbeth of Mankato. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Juhl Peterson in 2001; her brother, Dwight “Rex” Macbeth; and many brothers in law and sisters in law.

Ione Norene Macbeth was born April 8, 1928 in Eagle Lake to Ivan and Nora (Hoffman) Macbeth. She grew up on the Macbeth farm near Eagle Lake and attended the Tivoli one-room school house near her home before attending Mankato High School. Following her high school graduation in 1946, Ione attended the Mankato Commercial College, completing secretarial training. She was employed for many years as a secretary at the Brett’s Department Store in Mankato. Ione was united in marriage to Juhl Sidney Peterson of Hanska on December 7, 1957 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato. This union blessed the couple with a son and a daughter whom together they raised in rural Hanska. Ione loved to garden, sing and read, and was a faithful and devout member of Zion Lutheran Church of Hanska where she served on numerous volunteer church positions over the years. Ione and Juhl moved to Hanska following Juhl’s retirement from farming. A few years after Juhl’s death in 2001, Ione moved to Ridgeway on 23rd and eventually the Oak Hills Living Center of New Ulm. Although Ione lived a long and beautiful life, she will be dearly missed by many. Countless cherished memories will forever stay in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Blessed be those memories.
