Wilmer Boeder

GIBBON — Wilmer Boeder, 83, of Gibbon died Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Southview Living Center in Gibbon.

Funeral service will be 11 AM Wednesday, May 1, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Moltke Township with Pastor Benjamin Rucker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors being conducted by New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM Tuesday and 10 – 11 AM Wednesday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon is handling the arrangements.

He is survived by special friend, Vernetta Brinkman of New Auburn; niece, Stephanie (Briese) Lais, her husband, Wayne, and their daughter, Jessica, of Champlin.

Preceded in death by his mother in 1972; his father in 1990; step-mother, Marie (Sievert) Boeder in 2014; sister, Muriel (Boeder) Briese in 1990; brother-in-law, Robert Briese in 2009; and brother, Robert, in 1953.

Wilmer William Boeder was born March 24, 1936 to Edwin and Florence (Ruschmeyer) Boeder at New Ulm, Minnesota. Baptized April 12, 1936 by Pastor Lueker at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Moltke Township. He was also confirmed here April 2, 1950 by Pastor O. Rhode. Died April 27, 2019 at Southview Living Center, Gibbon, Minnesota. Lived and farmed Moltke Township his entire life.

He spent 6 years in the military from 1958-1962, 2 years in Germany and 2 years in the Reserves.

Wilmer enjoyed John Deere tractors, taking care of his garden mowing lawn, and traveling to many countries on tours with Vernetta. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church his entire life serving as an usher.
