Edwin Oswald

NEW ULM — Edwin Oswald, 91, of New Ulm and formerly of Lafayette died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.

A private family service will be 11 AM Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. A private family burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section with the Lafayette Legion Post providing Military Honors.

A public visitation will be 9 – 11 AM Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm.

Edwin is survived by his daughters, Inez Oswald of New Ulm, Ruth Oswald of New Ulm, Gloria Normandin of Mankato, Diane Eastman of New Ulm; a son, Carl (Michelle) Oswald of Lafayette; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Dale (Arlene) Oswald of New Ulm and Lester Oswald of Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Bill Beglau; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Donna Oswald; sister-in-law, Corinne Oswald; nephews, Riachard and Eugene Oswald and his former spouse, Marvis Oswald Muller.

Edwin Herman Oswald was born March 4, 1927 in New Ulm to Alvin and Marie (Martens) Oswald. He attended School District #43. Edwin served in the U.S. Army 1946 – 1947. He was united in marriage to Marvis Bonderson on September 11, 1949 at the Bernadotte Lutheran Church in Bernadotte and later divorced. He farmed near Lafayette until his retirement. Edwin enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting and playing with his grandchildren.

He was a member of the Lafayette American Legion Post #300.
