Jerome ‘Jerry’ Brunner

NEW ULM — Jerome “Jerry” Brunner, 72, of New Ulm died Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday, May 11, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldier’s Rest Section with full military honors being provided by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM Thursday and 7:30 – 10 AM Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Donna Brunner of New Ulm; daughter, Brenda Brunner of New Ulm; son, Paul (Emilia) Brunner of Bloomington, Indiana; grandchildren, Nathan, Mary and Natalie; sister, Elaine Compart of New Ulm; and by his brothers, Herbert Brunner Jr. and Joe (Gloria) Brunner of Tijuana, Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Willard Brunner; a sister-in-law, Berdell Brunner; and by his brother-in-law, Roger Compart.

Jerome Paul Brunner was born June 25, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan to Herbert and Mary (Rubey) Brunner. He was a graduate of Park Rapids High School in Park Rapids. Jerry served in the U.S. Army from 1965 – 1967 in Vietnam. He was united in marriage to Donna Ranweiler on April 11, 1970 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. After marriage Jerry was employed at Hartford Glass, New Ulm Motors and then Kraft Foods for 31 years until his retirement in 2002. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.

Jerry was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, American Legion Post 132 and VFW Post 1648.
