Geraldine “Gerry” Emelia Buck was born February 16, 1928 in Le Sueur to John and Odile (Schnackenberg) Buck. After graduating high school in 1946, Gerry attended the Mankato State University where she attained her B.S. in Education. On June 28, 1950, Gerry was united in marriage to Orville Kroells at the Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Gaylord. The couple was blessed with two sons whom together they raised in New Ulm where she raised her family and worked as a teacher. Gerry started her teaching career in a one room school house. She later worked many years teaching 6th grade in Lafayette, and eventually retired from teaching 3rd grade at Jefferson Elementary in New Ulm. Besides her work, Gerry also enjoyed appreciating the arts, studying Minnesota history and geology, dancing with her husband, and singing with the choir. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm for many years. What brought Gerry the most joy in life was inspiring the minds of the children she taught, spending time with her family, and getting to watch her own grandchildren grow. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Blessed be her memory.
