CAMBRIA — Harry Deopere, 79, of Cambria passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at the Cambria Presbyterian Church in Cambria with Pastor Penny Johnson officiating. Burial will take place in the Preri Bach Cemetery in Cambria with full military honors being conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – SOUTH Chapel in New Ulm. Visitation will continue on Monday, Feb. 26, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Cambria Presbyterian Church in Cambria.

Harry is survived by his wife, Darlyne Deopere of Cambria; daughters, Darla (Tim) Tickner of Eagan, Michelle (Jonathan) Johnson of New Ulm, Jodi (Allan) Poehler of Courtland and Stacey (David) Anderson of Elk River; sons, Kevin Deopere of Hutchinson and Jeffrey (Tammy) Deopere of Williamsburg, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers, Clarence “Butch” (Nancy) Deopere and Michael (Linda) Deopere all of Cambria; sisters-in-law, Karen Deopere of New Ulm and Freida Deopere of Lake Crystal.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brothers, Dennis and James Deopere.

Harry Duwane Deopere was born Dec. 5, 1938 in New Ulm to Clarence and Luella (Loesch) Deopere. He was a 1956 graduate of New Ulm High School and also served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1959. Harry was united in marriage to Darlyne Barrett on April 14, 1961 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. After marriage, Harry was employed at International Milling Company in New Ulm from 1959 to 1965. He then was employed at 3M for 32 years until his retirement in 1997. Harry enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, hunting, fishing, traveling, music, collecting Native American artifacts, his cat-Tommygirl and spending time with family and friends.

He was a member of Cambria Presbyterian Church, and American Legion Post 327 in Cambria.

Harry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother who be greatly missed.
