NEW ULM — Hildegard Woratschka, age 87, of New Ulm died peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Father Bruno Santiago, O.S.B., will celebrate the Mass. Burial will occur at a later date.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. The visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Hildegard is survived by her son, Eric Woratschka of Fürth, Germany; her sister, Elisabeth Schaupp of Markt Erlbach, Germany; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Woratschka; her parents; and her sister, Gertrud Trapp.

Hildegard (Trapp) Woratschka was born Feb. 1, 1930, in Markt Erlbach, Germany to Konrad and Anna Margarete (Fischer) Trapp. She met the love of her life, Joseph Woratschka, while he was serving in the military. The couple was united in marriage on Jan. 2, 1957, in Kitzingen, Germany and was blessed with one child, Eric Woratschka. Hildegard spent much of her life with children, primarily working as a nanny and homemaker in various locations in Germany. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, keeping a tidy house, and watching classical musical tv shows and many documentaries. She will be missed by many, blessed be her memory.
