HANSKA — Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Simpson of Hanska, age 63, of Hanska died Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Monday, July 10, at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church in Hanska. Pastor Sarah Taylor will officiate, and burial will follow in the Lake Hanska Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm, and continue from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church.

Cindy is survived by her significant other, Harley Blackstad; her children, Lori (Bryon) Stapella, Lisa (Justin) Lauseng, Jason (Jen Strehlo) Simpson, Duane (Sandra Winter) Simpson; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; her sisters, Caroline Wagner and Mary Miller; brothers, Phil (Jan) Miller, Jim (Gayla) Miller, Jerome (Karen) Miller and Larry “Lem” Miller and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Ted Miller.

Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Simpson was born September 16, 1953 in Fairmont to Harold and Helen (Schmidt) Miller. She attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School, Iowa Lakes College and Fairmont Cosmetology School where she earned her degree in cosmetology. She lived most of her life in Fairmont until she and Harley moved to Hanska in 2005. She most recently worked at Nuvex (Kerry Foods) in Quality Control. She enjoyed cooking, socializing with friends and above all else spending time with her family.
