Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. Father Germain Rademacher will celebrate the Mass, and a private burial will happen at a later date.

Visitation will be from 8:30-10:30 am on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Julie Wendinger of New Ulm; his sister, Rita Olson of Gibbon; sisters-in-law, Carol Schmidt of Blaine, Mary (Larry) Dauer of New Ulm; beloved dog, Muffin; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Wallace and Richard Wendinger; brother-in-law, Norman Olson; and mother-in-law, and father-in-law, Marie and Leander Schmidt.

Gerald “Jerry” Michael Wendinger was born June 30, 1949 in New Ulm to Otto and Florence (Berdan) Wendinger. He attended school at the Cathedral High School in New Ulm. Jerry began his working career as a bus driver with the New Ulm Bus Lines. He later worked as a bar tender for Joey’s Bar and Skip’s Bar. While working as a bar tender, Jerry also farmed. Later in life, Jerry began his career with Klossner Coop Oil where he started as an oil delivery driver, and ended as the Manager. It was during his time with Klossner Oil that he met the love of his life, Julie. Jerry was united in marriage with Julie Schmidt on June 19, 1992 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. Jerry later worked for Dittrich Specialties and Midwest Commodities before starting his own business, J&J Shuttle Service; a company he owned and operated for over 12 years. In life, Jerry dearly enjoyed to socialize. Always with his quick wit, Jerry could get away with saying nearly anything to anyone. Jerry took great pride in all the work he did. What he may have taken the most pride in was his lawn, yard, and wonderful gardens. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm, and a past member of the Knights of Columbus.
