Rita C. (Mrs. Art) Seidl

SLEEPY EYE – Rita C. (Mrs. Art) Seidl, 86, of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Gil Mor Manor in Morgan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 28, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with Monsignor Eugene Lozinski celebrating the Mass.

Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, SOUTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday.

Rita is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Rademaker and her special friend, Ken Hinderman both of Sleepy Eye, Marlene Seidl of Sleepy Eye, Joyce and Kevin Bigalk of Austin, JoLene and Al Craddock of Morgan, Elaine and Robert Gajewski of Pulaski, Wisconsin, Rita and David Gehrke of Kenyon, Carol and Steven Bass of Dayton, Sandra Seidl of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Peggy Seidl, Daniel and Bonnie Seidl all of Sleepy Eye, Stanley and Karen Seidl of Carthage, New York, Mark Seidl of Sleepy Eye, Arthur “Bud” Seidl of Buffalo; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren; brothers, Ervin and Betty Goblirsch of Long Prairie, James and June Goblirsch of Redwood Falls; sister-in-law, Bernice Goblirsch of Morgan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur “Art” Seidl; daughter, Lynette Seidl; son-in-law, William Rademaker; twin sister, Ruth Goelz; brothers, Lawrence, John, Jr., Alvin, and Linus Goblirsch.

Rita Clara Goblirsch was born on October 23, 1929, in New Avon Township, Redwood County, to John and Katherine (Heiling) Goblirsch. She attended District 14, St. Anne’s school in Wabasso. On June 25, 1952, she was united in marriage to Arthur Seidl at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. They farmed in Mulligan Township, Brown County. She enjoyed playing cards and Scrabble, dancing, watching baseball, canning, gardening, raising chickens, collecting eggs, and spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Rita was named the Farm Woman of the 1980s by KLGR radio. Rita was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, Catholic Aid, and Christian Mothers Society.
