Voted best grocery store in town—New Ulm Hy-Vee, located on South Broadway (Highway 15/68) at 20th Street South (Highway 37), has many long term employees who give excellent customer service.

NEW ULM – Maybe New Ulm Hy-Vee was voted the best grocery store and pharmacy in town by readers because they offer a lot of services.

Located on South Broadway (Highway 15/68) at 20th Street South (Highway 37), New Ulm Hy-Vee boasts of: being a UPS pick up and drop off, postal services, lotto tickets retailer, selling hunting and fishing licenses, offering a dry cleaning service, western union, fax, home online shopping, delivery through door dash, a full service bakery and kitchen where everything is made in store and everything is fresh like– bread, buns, sweet rolls, decorated cakes which are ready-to-go or can be ordered for a special occasion.

There’s the floral department that can make floral arrangements to order or the self-serve floral case where customers can chose an arrangement of their own, Meals To Go with ready-made meals like lasagna or meatloaf and mashed potatoes, fresh sushi, Hy-Vee Gas, a full-service meat counter with the largest variety of fresh fish and seafood choices in New Ulm, and the delicatessen with fresh made sandwiches every day and a variety of imported cheeses.

All of this is in addition to the pharmacy, which has even more services like a website that absolutely vaunts of immunizations, consultations, a drive-thru, medication therapy management, checking online prescription status, a mobile app, repeat refills, $4 generic medications, assistance with Medicare part D, pet medication management, smoking cessation classes, family accounts and they also currently offer both delivery and prescription mail-out options, as well as bubble-packing of medications.

These amenities make Hy-Vee very convenient but, Bill Kittler, Hy-Vee’s Store Director and Sean Donahoe, Hy-Vee’s pharmacy manager, feel like their popularity is more than just the magnitude of services Hy-Vee offers.

“I think we concentrate on customer service and have a lot of long-term employees who have been around and know our customers. The people who come in for shopping feel comfortable because they know everyone who is checking them out,” said Kittler.

“Many of us have worked here for 10 plus years and know most of our customers well. Along with meeting their needs as a pharmacy, we try to make their experience with us as enjoyable as possible,” said Hy-Vee’s pharmacy manager Sean Donahoe. “We really appreciate this award and everyone who voted for Hy-Vee Pharmacy.
