BEST DENTAL CLINIC Woodview Dental

Woodview Dental is this year’s winner of the Reader’s Choice award for best dental clinic in New Ulm.

Located just off South Broadway in a wooded area near Junior Pioneer Park, the aptly named dental clinic provides advanced, patient-focused dentistry in a welcoming environment for the whole family.

Headed by dentists John Brownfield and Kraig Schumm, and dental therapist Roni Carus, Woodview dental has over 16 employees, including four hygienists and seven assistants, as well as personnel in the front office greeting and checking in patients.

Dr. Schumm said winning the Reader’s Choice award feels great. “We show up and we do the best we can and it is nice to see that the community is also supporting us like we support the community,” he said.

“We have a great team around us and I think we’ve been lucky over the years to have great people working here,” Dr. Brownfield said.

“We have really leveraged technology so we can do same-day crowns,” Schumm added. “We do a lot of 3D printing. A lot of designing our own cases, which just helps get patients’ teeth quicker.”

“One thing that I think makes us a little bit more unique is we’ve been placing dental implants since 2019,” Schumm said. “You know, we’ve placed hundreds. And it’s kind of a service that, before we started, people would have to go to Mankato or go to the cities to have teeth replaced in that way.”

Dr. Brownfield, who has been a dentist here for 20 years, said they changed the name to Woodview Dental when the previous dentist retired. Brownfield also created the logo that can be seen on the front door welcoming guests to their facility as well as on their website, which offers detailed information about the dental clinic.

Dr. Schumm said, “Much like the foundation of the practice as the team from a building standpoint, we began with a great building that Dr. Windschitl built and it gave us the foundation to continue adding on things and updating. You know, it had enough space where we could add different technologies. With the 3D printing as a whole room, with this spacious basement we were able to renovate.” They also added two new laboratories on the main floor.

Dr. Schumm said, “It’s one of those fortunate and unfortunate things where we’re very busy. The clinics are running at capacity, especially with hygienists, a little bit of a shortage, there’s just a lot of people.”

But Dr. Schumm did leave one bit of advice: “It’s never too late to start today to look at teeth and get them fixed.”

Starting at $4.50/week.
