New Ulm Police • Received a call from Microtel Inn & Suites, 20th St. South at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday about an individual attempting to rent a room who was highly intoxicated. The man left the area before officers arrived. Police later found the man in Hy-Vee Foods showing obvious impairment signs. The man tried to call family but they refused to assist him. He was transported to the Brown County Evaluation Center (detox). New Ulm Police • A 24-year-old Gibbon woman turned herself in at the Brown County Law Enforcement Center on a Brown County warrant for disorderly conduct charges at 10:44 a.m. Monday. • Took a report of a 20-year-old New Ulm woman living in a group home was seen getting into a vehicle on Southridge Road at 1:57 a.m. Sunday. A later returned to the home. New Ulm Police • Stopped a man for speeding at 4:40 a.m. Friday at Highland Ave. and Garden St. North. The driver, a 49-year-old Owatonna man, did not possess a valid driver’s license. His driving privileges were cancelled inimical to public safety. He was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail and later cited for speeding and driving after cancellation-IPS. Reports went to the county attorney’s office and probation.

New Ulm Police • Received a theft report from Walmart at 3 p.m. Wednesday. A 40-year-old Winthrop man was observed on video surveillance leaving the store without paying for a $26.51 ham. A report was sent to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office for consideration of misdemeanor theft charges. • Responded to an animal complaint at 3:43 P.M. Wednesday. An individual took a deceased cat to a veterinary office. It appeared the cat was shot outside by a pellet gun. Police have no suspects. A report was done for documentation.
