New Ulm Police • Responded to the Colonial Inn, 1227 N. Broadway at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday for a 35-year-old New Ulm woman suffering from a mental health crisis. The woman told police things were not going well with a man she was sharing a hotel room with. Police contacted a Mankato crisis center about coming to the Brown County Law Enforcement Center to transported the woman to safe housing in Mankato. New Ulm Police • Responded to an assault report on the 1300 block of Payne Street North at 6:58 p.m. Friday. A 43-year-old New Ulm woman told police she and her 48-year-old New Ulm boyfriend got into a fight, she was slapped in the face with an open hand and he put his hands around her neck, went outside and slashed all four of her tires. Police found the male suspect in the backyard before he ran back into the residence and was arrested by police and transported to detox. New Ulm Police • Reported a two-vehicle crash without injuries at 3:42 p.m. Wednesday at Jefferson South Street and 10th South. A 2024 Ford Bronco driven westbound on 10th South by Anna Renae Upmeyer, 20, Lafayette, collided with an eastbound 2014 Ford C-Max driven by Yvonne Christine Spengler, 22, New Ulm. Upmeyer tried to turn south on Jefferson Street and struck the Spengler vehicle. New Ulm Police • Stopped a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old Fairfax female at 2:12 a.m. at 7th Street North and Front Street. Police found THC vapes, marijuana joints and buds, a grinder and THC drinks. The driver was given a verbal warning and told to put the items in the vehicle trunk. • A 26-year-old New Ulm male told police at 9:31 a.m. Tuesday that someone opened a Discover card in his name and ran up more than $400 in charges. New Ulm Police • Met with a 16-year-old New Ulm boy and his mother at 8:22 p.m. Saturday who said they were being “blackmailed.” The boy sent images of his face and private parts to an Instagram address and received information that unless be began making payments, the photos would be sent to his friends and family with Instagram accounts. The boy was advised not to make contact with the individual on Instagram. The boy and his mother said they did not send any funds to the scammer. New Ulm Police • Responded to a two-vehicle crash without injuries at 6:34 p.m. Friday at Center and Payne Street. A 2016 GMC Acadia driven by northbound on Payne Street by Nathan Haubrich, 45, Belgrade, that collided with a westbound 2023 Ford Edge driven on Center by Annamarie Wilfahrt, 72, New Ulm. Damage was moderate to the passenger rear side door and quarter panel of the GMC and moderate to the front of the Ford. Both drivers wore seat belts.
