New Ulm Police
• Received a call from Microtel Inn & Suites, 20th St. South at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday about an individual attempting to rent a room who was highly intoxicated. The man left the area before officers arrived. Police later found the man in Hy-Vee Foods showing obvious impairment signs. The man tried to call family but they refused to assist him. He was transported to the Brown County Evaluation Center (detox). A report was done for documentation.
• Responded to a report of a physical domestic in progress on the 600 block of Minnesota Street South at 6:04 a.m. Wednesday. A 32-year-old New Ulm woman said her significant other, a 33-year-old New Ulm man punched her in the nose. Trauma marks were noticed on her nose, lips and other areas. The man resisted once he learned he was going to be arrested. He was transported to the Brown County Jail. A report went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office for domestic assault and obstruction of the legal process. Reports also went to Brown County Human Services and Brown County Probation.
Minnesota State Patrol
• Received a two-vehicle crash report at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday on State Highway 4 and Ash Ave. West, Hector, Renville County. A 2014 Ford Taurus driven westbound on Ash Avenue by Nicholas John Squibb, 23, Hector, collided with a 2010 Ford Fusion driven southbound on Highway 4 by Jeanette Rodriguez, 34, Hector. She wore a seat belt but was transported to an Olivia hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Squibb wore a seat belt and was not injured. The Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Hector Fire/Ambulance assisted.
