Suspect in Hanska double murder arrested in Iowa

Police are searching for Randy Thomas Zimmerman in connection with a double-murder committed in Hanska Sunday. Zimmerman is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who has seen Zimmerman or has information about his crime or his whereabouts, is asked to contact local law enforcement.

HANSKA — Randy Thomas Zimmerman, a suspect in connection with a double murder that occurred in Hanska on Sunday, was taken into custody by law enforcement in Iowa.

The arrest included the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa; the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa; the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa; and the Iowa State Patrol around 5:12 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2.

At 4:22 a.m. Sunday, Brown County dispatch received a 911 call from a juvenile witness saying his mother’s ex-boyfriend broke into their house and shot his mom. Upon arrival at the home, law enforcement found two victims, a 50-year-old male and 32-year-old female victim, both died of gunshot wounds.

Zimmerman, 45, was considered armed and dangerous at the time of his arrest.
