New Ulm Police

• Dispatched to a disturbance on the 900 block of Franklin St. S. at 5:05 a.m.. The wife of a 92-year-old New Ulm man said to have dementia was concerned about him in the house with guns. Police arrived and tried to call him but he didn’t answer. The man later agreed to be transported by family members to New Ulm Medical Center. Family members said they would remove guns from the residence. Nobody was hurt, no charges are pending. A report was done for documentation.

Sibley County

Sheriff’s Office

• The Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office received 911 calls from persons with a group of Minnesota River canoeists north of Le Sueur at 12:57 p.m. Thursday. Callers said canoeists encountered fast-moving water with trees causing canoes to tip over. Law enforcement and rescue squads responded with boats launched at river access sites in Le Sueur and Henderson. Rescue personnel found two females clinging to an overturned canoe in the middle of the river and additional individuals on a sand bar in the river. The individuals were moved into boats and transported to the Henderson river access.

The group of 11 students and two chaperones from the Kato Public Charter School in six canoes, were treated by rescue squad and ambulance personnel.

Agencies responding included the Sibley and Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Offices, Henderson Police, Fire and Rescue, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Ridgeview Ambulance Service.

• Was dispatched at 12:48 a.m. Thursday to a camper fire at the Rush River County Park near Henderson. A 1979 recreational vehicle was found fully engulfed at the scene. The Henderson Fire Department extinguished the fire. Nobody was in the camper at the time of the fire.

McLeod County

Sheriff’s Office

• Responded at 7:34 a.m. Thursday to a trespassing report on Prior Street in Stewart. An investigation continues.

• Responded at 7:26 p.m. Thursday to a vehicle fire on TH 15 south of Brownton. Brownton Police and Fire Departments also responded. The fire was extinguished and a vehicle was towed. A deputy cleared without a report.

• Responded at 8:53 p.m. Thursday to a public assist on Tagus Avenue northwest of Brownton. Deputies cleared with a report.
