State Patrol
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 212, Melville Township, Renville County, at 6:25 a.m. Sept. 22. Jordan K. Ross, 37, Granite Falls, was driving a 2012 Kia Soul eastbound on Highway 212 when he collided with a westbound 2020 Peterbilt tractor driven by Josh A. Klinkner, 40, Stewart. Ross was transported to an Olivia hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both drivers wore seat belts. An airbag deployed in the Kia. Alcohol was not involved. The Bird Island Fire Dept. and Olivia Ambulance assisted on scene.
• Responded to a one-vehicle motorcycle crash with injuries on Highway 16, Frankford Township, Mower County at 6:34 p.m. Sept. 18. Tanar W. Haala, 47, Fairfax was driving a 2021 Indian motorcycle westbound on Highway 16 when the rear tire blew and he and a passenger, Rachel L. Kuphal, 32, Pipestone, were both thrown from the motorcycle. Haala was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, with life-threatening injuries. Kuphal had non-life threatening injuries. Grand Meadow Police and Ambulance, Mayo 1 and the Mower County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
New Ulm Police
• Responded to a hit-and-run crash at 2:11 p.m. Wednesday at on the 1600 block of N. Broadway. A parked, unattended 2017 Chevrolet in a parking lot was facing west when a reported silver pickup with red trailer with a wood top drove through the lot, make a u-turn, and hit the front left of the Chevrolet causing light damage to it and left the scene.
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash at 16th St. S. and Minnesota St. at 9:45 a.m. Thursday. Melanie Tretsven, 20, Brooklyn Park, was driving a 2012 Ford Focus westbound, proceeding from a stop sign, and collided with Kristin Compton, 36, New Ulm, who was southbound driving a 2002 Chevy Tahoe. Compton had minor injuries and refused transport to New Ulm Medical Center. Damage was severe to the Focus and moderate to the Tahoe.
