New Ulm Police

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident at 3:34 p.m. Friday at 12 North and State Street. A 1992 Ford driven by Gary Merkel, 46, of Fairfax, was traveling eastbound on 12th North. A 2019 Ford driven by Lana Mathiowetz, 57, of Sleepy Eye, was northbound on State Street. The 2019 Ford failed to yield and was struck by the 1992 Ford while attempting to cross 12th North. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage. No injuries reported.

State Patrol

A two-vehicle accident occurred at 3:32 p.m. Sunday near Highway 22 and Highway 14 in Mankato. A Mazda Tribute, driven by Cameron Bryce Batton, 25, of Mankato, and 2018 Jeep Compass driven by Corey Donn Schewe, 56, of Sleepy Eye, collided. Neither driver was reported injured, but a passenger in the Jeep Compass, Tamara Joan Schewe, 53, of Sleepy Eye, sustained non-life threatening injuries. She was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
