Redwood County Sheriff’s Office

At 2:45 p.m. May 29, the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office was called to a two-vehicle accident at County Road 6 and County Road 4. Alan Chan Yang of Walnut Grove was traveling North on County Road 6 in a Honda Odyssey van when a semi truck driven by Omar Benitez Ortiz traveling East on County Road 4 failed to stop for the stop sign causing the minivan strike the semi truck. Occupants of the Honda were transported to Carris Health hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. This incident is currently under investigation.

Renville County

Sheriff’s Office

The Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a traffic complaint 11:23 a.m. Friday on a vehicle speeding and passing vehicles unsafely. The vehicle was reported traveling west on U.S. Highway 212 entering Renville County. The vehicle was described as a white four-door SUV.

At 11:32 a.m. a deputy located a white SUV traveling west on Highway 212 near 440th Street. The vehicle was observed on radar at over 100 mph. The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle continued west. Deputies pursued the vehicle as it drove north and back west on gravel roads.

Eventually, a tire deflation device was deployed causing damage to several of the vehicle tires. The vehicle continued south on County Road 14 south towards Olivia. After crossing Highway 212, the vehicle came to a stop on 350th Street, south of Olivia.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Jazzmyn Sauceda of Hutchinson, was taken into custody and later booked into the Renville County Jail on fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and other charges.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Olivia Police Department.

Nicollet County

Sheriff’s Office

The Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a suspicious person looking into the windows of a residence in rural St. Peter 10:51 a.m. Sunday. The complaint said dispatch the suspicious person was a missing person from the Minnesota Security Hospital. Officers and deputies arrived and took the person into custody without incident. Officers and deputies confirmed it was the person in question and identified him as 29 year-old Michael Ray Caldwell. He is currently in custody pending charges.
